A New Jersey month-to-month rental agreement is a short-term rental agreement that doesn’t have a formal end date but instead is presumed to be renewed on a monthly basis. This type of agreement is also known as a “tenancy at will”. If either party desires to amend or end this agreement they have to give the other party a minimum of thirty (30) days’ written notice of the change or termination. Any terminations have to follow all minimum termination laws set forth by the state of New Jersey. Additionally, both parties would benefit from utilizing a rental application before entering into a rental agreement.
Minimum Termination
Thirty (30) days’ written notice is considered sufficient to terminate a month-to-month rental agreement in New Jersey.
