A Louisiana sublease agreement permits a tenant to rent the property where he or she is living to a third party, who is called the subtenant. Tenants typically must seek the permission of the landlord in order to sublease a property. Even if the landlord does agree to allow a sublease, the terms of the original lease agreement will still apply. In the event that a subtenant does not comply with the lease agreement, including failing to pay rent, then the original tenant would be liable.
