An Iowa sublease agreement is a legal document that governs a tenant of a property’s arrangement to lease the property to another party, known as a “subtenant.” Because the subtenant was not a part of the original lease agreement between the landlord and the tenant, the tenant will likely need the landlord’s approval to sublease a property. Subleasing, also called subleasing, does not relieve the tenant of responsibilities under a lease. Tenants are generally liable for their subtenants’ violations of the terms of the original lease agreement, including the failure to pay monthly rent.
