Alabama Month-to-Month Rental Agreement

An Alabama month-to-month rental agreement (“tenancy at will”) allows a landlord and tenant to create a short-term contract for the use of a property that can be terminated within thirty (30) days. The termination depends upon what is written in the lease or must be in accordance with the minimum termination laws in the State. The same landlord-tenant laws apply to month-to-month leases and the landlord will have to follow the same eviction process as under a standard lease.

Minimum Termination Period

A landlord or tenant has the right to terminate a month-to-month lease by providing at least thirty (30) days’ notice prior to the termination date.
