A Kansas sublease agreement enables a tenant renting a property to lease the property to another party, known as a subtenant, for a defined period. Subleases do not void the terms of the lease agreement between the landlord and the original tenant. Rather, the tenant remains liable for rent and other obligations if the subtenant should fail to meet them. Also, because the subtenant is not part of the original lease agreement, usually must give permission before a subtenancy can begin.
