An Indiana sublease agreement is an arrangement in which a tenant leasing a property temporarily leases the property to a third party, called a subtenant. Because the original lease agreement was between the tenant and the landlord and did not include a subtenant, the tenant will generally need the landlord’s permission for such an arrangement. The original terms of the lease agreement will still apply, and tenants are responsible for ensuring that subtenants comply. If a subtenant fails to pay rent, the tenant will usually be liable.
