A Vermont month-to-month rental agreement is a tenancy agreement that does not extend beyond thirty (30) days. Whereas a standard lease agreement generally binds a lessor and lessee in a contract for a specified period of time, which is usually a year, the month-to-month agreement can be terminated within two months. The agreement renews each time the monthly rent is paid.
Minimum Termination Period
If a tenant has resided on the property for less than two years, sixty (60) days’ notice must be given before the agreement is terminated. If the tenant has resided on the property for more than two years, ninety (90) days’ notice must be given.
