An Illinois month-to-month lease termination letter is a letter that allows a landlord or tenant to cancel a tenancy-at-will by providing at least thirty (30) days’ notice. The notice should be sent so that proof of delivery is possible, whether that is by hand-delivery or certified mail. The tenant has no choice but to vacate the premises within thirty (30) days of receiving a termination letter. If they do not, the landlord can initiate eviction proceedings.
