A California month-to-month lease termination letter is a notice that cancels a tenancy-at-will by establishing thirty (30) or sixty (60) day’s written notice between the parties involved. It should be sent by certified mail or delivered by hand to confirm proof of delivery. A landlord can evict a tenant if the tenant hasn’t vacated their rental unit within the designated number of days in the notice.
Minimum Termination Period
It is necessary for the landlord or tenant to provide a minimum of thirty (30) days’ notice to vacate the rental unit if the tenant has occupied the unit for less than one (1) calendar year. If they have occupied the unit for one (1) year or more, either party has to give the other at least sixty (60) days’ notice.
