A Rhode Island month-to-month rental agreement is a contract between a landlord and a tenant or tenants for a lease of property that provides greater flexibility than a standard lease agreement. Unlike many leases, which may require an initial commitment of a year, a month-to-month lease may be terminated at any time, as long as the notice requirements are followed. Also known as “tenancies at will,” month-to-month leases may be desirable for tenants or landlords whose future plans are uncertain.
Minimum Termination Period
The landlord or the tenant may terminate a month-to-month tenancy by a written notice delivered to the other at least thirty (30) days before the date specified in the notice.
