Oregon Rental Application Form

An Oregon rental application is a document that is completed by a potential tenant and allows a landlord to screen them before signing a lease. In order to fill the form, the tenant enters all required personal information including details about employment and income. After reviewing the tenant’s background information, the landlord decides whether to approve or deny tenancy.

Maximum Application Fee ($)

Oregon state law does not set an exact numerical maximum fee for rental applications. However, it does lay out specific rules regarding rental application fees that landlords must follow. These included but are not limited to:

  • Stipulating the amount of any applicant screening charge must not be greater than the landlord’s average actual cost of screening applicants or the customary amount charged by tenant screening companies or consumer credit reporting agencies for a comparable level of screening;
  • Charging an applicant only once in a sixty (60) day period;
  • Accepting applications and fees only when there are actual rental units available for occupancy; and
  • Providing written notice to an applicant of the screening criteria and application fee before accepting their payment.
