A Montana month-to-month rental agreement is a legally binding contract between a landlord and tenant that is secured for thirty (30) days at a time. The tenancy is considered “at-will”, which means it doesn’t need to be re-negotiated monthly but that any changes or terminations to it can only happen with at least thirty (30) days notice to all interested parties. The state of Montana has minimum termination requirements that need to be met as well. Landlords can use rental applications to verify tenants’ incomes and backgrounds before entering into any agreements.
Minimum Termination
A landlord or tenant can terminate a tenancy by providing the other party with at least thirty (30) days’ written notice.
