A Mississippi standard residential lease agreement is a legally-binding document expressing a landlord-tenant relationship for a fixed tenancy, usually lasting for one (1) year. Both parties enter such leasing contract upon reaching an understanding in regards to the rental arrangement and the terms that shall govern it. Before executing a formal deal, landlords typically request potential renters to fill out a rental application and consent to a background check. The reports from a background check can assist the landlord in making an informed decision on which individual to choose as their tenant. Upon electing a tenant (or multiple tenants, in some cases), both parties must sign the lease and commence their duties per the agreement.
