An Indiana month-to-month rental agreement is a legal document that contains the terms of a lease of property by a landlord to a tenant that may be terminated at any time, so long as enough notice is provided. Month-to-month leases, sometimes called “tenancies at will,” are structured similarly to traditional leases, and most of their terms may be negotiated, but do not require a predetermined time commitment from either party. As with other kinds of leases, landlords may choose to use a rental application to assure that a potential tenant earns the income necessary to pay the rent.
Minimum Termination Period
One (1) month notice in writing, delivered to the tenant, unless the rental agreement states otherwise. There is no statutory provision for how much notice tenants must provide to landlords, but one (1) month is recommended.
