A North Dakota month-to-month rental agreement is a contract between a landlord and tenant for the lease of a property without a minimum rental period. The agreement resembles a standard lease but may be terminated by either party so long as the notice requirements are met. Month-to-month lease arrangements, also known as tenancies at will, provide flexibility that may be desirable, for example, for a landlord who is considering developing the property, or a tenant who is considering taking a job in another state.
Minimum Termination Period
In tenancies from month to month, either party may terminate the tenancy at any time by giving at least one calendar month’s written notice, unless the parties have otherwise agreed in writing to a longer notice period or a different notice time.
