A Missouri standard residential lease agreement is a rental contract whereby two parties, a landlord and tenant, record their desired terms for a fixed tenancy. Prior to entering a formal arrangement, landlords must practice due diligence when vetting potential renters. Many landlords, for instance, perform background checks on prospects in order to ensure the individual is financially responsible and able to assume rental costs accordingly. Both parties should negotiate terms and conditions until reaching an accord, at which point they must document each item on the lease agreement. All parties involved must sign the lease into effect, thus accepting obligations and responsibilities.
